The Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday denied a circulating text message, which claimed that two of the Ateneo students tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“The Ateneo de Manila University through its University Marketing and Communications Director, Matec Villanueva would like to inform the public that a text message that claims to be from Fr. Jose Villarin SJ about ‘two male siblings from the Ateneo de Manila Loyola Schools tested positive for COVID-19’ is false,” the university said in a statement on Facebook.
It said all official statements will be issued by the University Marketing and Communications Office.
On Wednesday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed to 49, as the Department of Health (DOH) had recently reported 16 new cases.
